Premier League & SPL Football

Subscribe here for Game Notes from the five televised Premier Legaue & SPL fixtures this weekend, including Chelsea v Man City.

Man City's Wayne Bridge

SPL: Aberdeen v Hearts (Sat, 12:00)

Both teams to score: Since 2007/08 both teams have scored in 11 of Aberdeen’s 18 home matches against middle-third teams, as has been the case in their last three matches overall. Hearts have kept just one clean on the road this season with both teams netting in nine of their last 12 away, including three of their five trips to middle-third teams.

Premier League: Chelsea v Man City (Sat, 12:45)

-2.5 goals: Chelsea have won 12 of 13 home games this season and just three of their matches have had -2.5 goals. However, those three games came in their four home matches against top-six sides and since 2007/08 eight of their 13 home games against top-six teams have finished with -2.5 goals, including six of eight since 2008/09. Man City appear to have become more cautious since Roberto Mancini took charge and have had under-goals in five of their last six games, as well as in seven of 13 away this season and six of 10 away at the Big Four since 2007/08.

Premier League: Stoke v Arsenal (Sat, 17:30)

Asian handicap, Away -1: Stoke snatched a late win over Portsmouth in their last match and are now unbeaten in seven games. However, they’ve lost four of their seven home games against the Big Four since their promotion, including four of five when just looking at the current top three. Furthermore, they’ve failed to score in three of these losses and twice been beaten by two or more goals. Arsenal are still in the title race despite their losses to Big Four rivals and they’ve won five of their eight away matches this season excluding against the current top seven (W5-D2-L1) with four wins by two or more goals. Moreover, they’ve won eight of their last 14 away games against middle-third sides with six wins by two clear goals.

SPL: Rangers v Celtic (Sun, 12:30)

Home Win DNB: Rangers have been running away with the league this season and this represents a must-win game for Celtic. Rangers have won seven of their last eight home games and five of their last six matches hosting Celtic. Celtic are having a poor season and have lost four of their last 10 away matches. Moreover, they’ve won only four and lost five of their last 13 trips to top-half teams.

Premier League: Spurs v Everton (Sun, 13:00)

-2.5 goals: Two late goals for Spurs at Wigan last weekend ended a streak of nine consecutive matches with -2.5 goals. However, seven of their last nine at home, and nine of their last 13 hosting top-half non-Big Four teams have finished with under-goals. Everton are in superb form and have had fewer than three goals in seven of their last 10 games, as well as in six of their last eight away at top-half non-Big Four teams. Since 2007/08 all-top-half non-Big Four clashes in the second half of the season have had -2.5 goals in 63% of matches.
