Champions League: Matchday 6 Review

Bettorlogic returned a 10% profit on nine calls in the Champions League on Tuesday and Wednesday, including +2.5 goals in CSKA v Besiktas at 2.30.

CSKA v Besiktas

Group A: Juventus v Bayern Munich (Tues, 19:45) - Result: 1-4

Juventus have long been dominant at home in this phase, going W15-D2-L0 since 2002/03. Six of their last seven such matches have been goalless at the interval and five have settled the -2.5 goals market. Bayern have also been rather weak when they travel to Italy. Since 2002/03, they have lost three of their five such games (W1-D1-L3).

Recommendation: Juventus win 2.3, Victor Chandler

Group B: Besiktas v CSKA Moscow (Tues, 19:45) - Result: 1-2

22 of the 39 games in which fellow non-top 20 sides have faced each other in the final group match have seen at least three goals. Russian teams have lost three of their last four trips to teams ranked 41-60 — W1-D0-L3 and all of the games settled the +2.5 goals market.

Recommendation: +2.5 goals 2.30, William Hill

Group C: FC Zurich  v AC Milan (Tues, 19:45) - Result: 1-1

First-time qualifiers have a poor home record against opponents with a Bettorlogic ranking of 5-15, W2-D2-L19 since 2000/01, with 16 of these 19 defeats coming with the hosts failing to score and 11 finishing 1-0 to the away team. AC Milan have a great record against teams ranked 30+, winning six of their nine Group Stage matches (W6-D0-L3) since 2000/01 and more impressively winning all six without conceding.

Recommendation: AC Milan win to nil 2.38, BlueSQ

Group C: Marseille v Real Madrid (Tues, 19:45) - Result: 1-3

Marseille have failed to win and lost five of their seven matches (W0-D2-L5). On each occasion the full-time result has been mirrored by that of half-time (five +2.5 goals). On the road against teams ranked 15-30, Real Madrid have an above average record, winning half of their 12 group games since 2001/02 (W6-D3-L3). All of these victories came by way of the W/W double result and nine of the matches saw at least three scores.

Recommendation: +2.5 goals 1.90, Betdaq

Group D: Atletico Madrid v FC Porto (Tues, 19:45) - Result: 0-3

Atletico Madrid have not lost in their six home matches since 2008/09 (W2-D4-L0), with five witnessing both teams score and four featuring three goals or more.Since wining Europe’s showpiece event in 2003/04, Porto have lost five of their 10 trips to teams ranked 5-30 (W3-D2-L5). In addition, eight of these matches featured both teams scoring and three goals or more.

Recommendation: +2.5 goals 2.15, Bet365

Group D: Chelsea v APOEL Nicosia (Tues, 19:45) - Result: 2-2

Since 2004/05, the Blues have played 17 home Group Stage matches and have not lost (W13-D4-L0). Impressively, in this sample they have kept 14 clean sheets, winning to nil in 11 matches. Nicosia have given very little away so far in this group with two draws and three single goal defeats and have only scored in two of their five matches.

Recommendation: Chelsea clean sheet 2.05, Victor Chandler

Group E: Lyon v Debrecen (Weds, 19:45) - Result: 4-0 (HT 2-0)

Since 2003/04, Lyon have hosted 11 teams with a ranking of 20+ and won nine times. Seven of these were won by the W/W double result and four saw the opening goal within the first 10 minutes. Debrechen have lost four of their five matches this campaign by the L/L double result.

Recommendation: Lyon W/W 1.67, Paddy Power

Group G: Sevilla v Rangers (Weds, 19:45) - Result: 1-0 (HT 1-0)

Sevilla have previously played six home matches in this competition and they have won on five occasions (W5-D1-L0). Interestingly, they have led at the break in all of these games and four have settled the +2.5 goals market (three +3.5 goals). The Gers have a terrible away record in this competition, winning just two of their 14 matches this century (W2-D5-L7). They have trailed at the break in five of these games and nine (64%) have seen no more than a brace of scores.

Recommendation: Sevilla HT win 1.87, Extrabet

Group H: Olympiakos v Arsenal (Weds, 19:45) - Result: 1-0

Olympiakos' home record does, however, suffer when they play host to teams with a Bettorlogic ranking of 1-10, winning only three of their nine such matches. Since 2003/04, the Gunners have lost only four of their 20 away Group Stage matches, 12 of which have seen -2.5 goals.

Recommendation: Lay Olympiakos 2.01, Betdaq (Back odds = 1.99)
