Topline (13/11/2010)

Topline returns with 14 selections this weekend as Mallorca aim to keep up their impressive home record against struggling Deportivo.

Mallorca's captain Nunes

Romania: U Cluj v P Targu-Jiu (Sat, 12:00)

U Cluj have won four of their last six home games, including against current leaders Otelul, and have opened the scoring in their last five home matches. Targu-Jiu have lost 16 of 21 away matches (only beating last season’s bottom club) with 14 defeats to nil and have lost their last six trips to middle-third teams.

Recommendation: U Cluj Win 2.00, Stan James

Poland: Polonia Bytom v Arka Gdynia (Sat, 13:30)

The Ekstraklasa has produced a number of low-scoring matches this term. So far 60% of the games have seen fewer than three goals while 41% have had no more than one. Both of these sides have contributed their bit to the under goals nature. 5/6 of Polonia Bytom’s home games have had -2.5 goals and three -1.5 goals while their opponents Arka are yet to score on the road. All of their six away games have had -2.5 goals and five have had -1.5 goals.

Recommendation: -1.5 goals 2.55, Sportingbet

Championship: Portsmouth v Doncaster (Sat, 15:00)

Portsmouth’s season turned on it’s head when they beat Leicester 6-1 in game week 8. Prior to that, they were rooted to the bottom of the league on two points but since then they have won 6/9 games, losing just once, with six +2.5 goals and four +3.5 goals games. Doncaster, meanwhile, have netted in all of their last eight league games and they have failed to score in just 2/8 away fixtures this term (six +2.5 goals, four +3.5 goals).

Recommendation: +3.0 goals 2.20, Bet365

Championship: Leeds v Bristol City (Sat, 15:00)

Leeds are in a terrible run of form. They have picked up just one point from their last four home matches despite facing three sides currently in the bottom seven. Bristol City have netted in all of their last four on the road and they have been beaten in just two of their last six such matches. The visitors impressively managed to stop Swansea scoring at home in their 1-0 victory on Tuesday.

Recommendation: Lay Leeds Win 1.87, Betfair

Championship: Scunthorpe v Cardiff (Sat, 15:00)

Strangely Scunthorpe have won their last three away games but lost their last three home matches. The hosts lost to 2-0 to a Middlesbrough side that hadn’t won on the road since April on Tuesday night and they have a lengthy injury list here. Cardiff have scored in all-but-one of their eight away fixtures this season with five victories.

Recommendation: Cardiff Win 2.00, Various

League One: Peterborough v Charlton (Sat, 15:00)

Peterborough’s incredible run of high-scoring games is showing no sign of abating. All of their seven home fixtures have seen at least three goals while four have seen five or more goals. Charlton have scored in seven of their eight away games and four of the matches have settled the +3.5 goals market.

Recommendation: +3.5 goals 2.80, Sportingbet

SPL: St Johnstone v Hearts (Sat, 15:00)

St Johnstone have lost to nil in 4/6 home matches this season and their two victories came against fellow-strugglers Hibernian and St Mirren. Hearts, meanwhile, are in great from having won 4/5 away fixtures this season, with four wins by two clear goals. The visitors have also won 5/6 unbeaten away games against bottom-six opposition.

Recommendation: Hearts Win 2.50, Various

Romania: Brasov v Studentesc (Sat, 17:00)

Brasov are in the bottom six having not won in 12 matches. However, just four of those were against current bottom-half teams including just one at home, and since 2008/09 they’ve won 9/13 home games against bottom-six teams. Meanwhile Studentesc have lost all seven of their away games and since 2005/06 bottom-six promoted teams have lost 55% of away matches against bottom-half sides.

Recommendation: Brasov win at 1.91, Stan James

Czech: Viktoira Plzen v Slovan Liberec (Sat, 17:20)

Plzen remain at the top of the Gambrinus Liga and there are now nine points clear of their nearest challengers Sparta Prague. All of the hosts seven home games this season have seen at least three goals while four have had at least four goals. Further, they have netted in the opening half of all of these games. Four of Slovan’s eight away fixtures this season have had +3.5 goals, while all of their last six have had at least one goal before half-time.

Recommendation: +2.75 goals 1.87, Pinnacle

Turkey: Kasimpasa v Sivasspor (Sun, 12:30)

These are the bottom two sides in the Super Lig. Kasimpasa have had +2.5 goals in all of their last four home matches, while they have conceded at least six goals in two of the games. Sivasspor have conceded in all of their 21 away games since the start of last season and 14 of the matches have had +2.5 goals, while nine have seen at least four goals.

Recommendation: +2.5 goals 2.01, Canbet

Netherlands: Feyenoord v Heerenveen (Sun, 15:30)

Feyenoord have responded to their recent 10-0 drubbing at PSV by tightening their defence with just one goal conceded in two home games since and have been level at half-time in 8/10 home matches against top-half non-Big Two teams (seven goalless). Heerenveen have been level at half-time in 15 of their last 17 matches including their last eight away.

Recommendation: Half-time draw 2.50, Coral

La Liga: Mallorca v Deportivo (Sun, 16:00)

Mallorca’s home stats never cease to impress. They have won 18/24 home matches since the start of last season with 12 W/W doubles and they have won 9/10 games hosting bottom-half sides within that sample. Deportivo have recorded L/Ls in 8/10 on the road and also in 7/7 trips to middle-third sides.

Recommendation: Mallorca W/W 3.10, Bwin

Argentina: Independiente v Olimpo (Sun, 22:10)

Independiente are having a poor season but they’re unbeaten in four home games, winning two of the last three, and have won 12 of their last 20 home games against bottom-half teams. Meanwhile Olimpo have lost their opening seven away games since promotion and since 2005/06 bottom-six promoted teams have lost 63% of away matches against bottom-six sides. Furthermore, Independiente have won all four of their league meetings since 2005/06.

Recommendation: Independiente Win 2.00, Stan James

Argentina: Newell's OB v Racing Club (Sun, 23:20)

Newells are unbeaten in six home games with four wins and have won seven of their last 12 home games against top-half teams. Racing have scored just once in five away games whilst losing three times and they’ve lost five of eight away matches against top-six teams since 2008/09. Furthermore, Newell’s have won this fixture for the past three seasons and top-six teams have won 56% of home matches against middle-third sides since 2005/06.

Recommendation: Newell’s Old Boys Win 2.05, Victor Chandler
